The case is as advertised. The front panel is matted while the black is plastic. I went from a completely magnetic folio to this and I do appreciate the protective bezel around the iPad. It’s served me well while I carry it in my bookbag..My only warning is that. as seen in pictures. there is no way to lock the pencil in with the case. Definitely would need to find a way to keep track of the pencil separately as it can detach from the iPad easily and get lost.
