This case was a perfect fit for my 1st generation iPad Air. Other than the back of the front cover which is felt lined the entire case is hard plastic. Holds the iPad securely with perfect cutouts for all the buttons speaker mic etc. The iPad does turn the screen off when the front cover is closed. Very happy with this case.
