If you want to use an old VGA monitor with a Raspberry Pi or other HDMI device this works very well. Good image quality and has HDMI audio out which is handy. I have several of these in use with Ras Pis and some old monitors that would otherwise have ended up in the bin.

It works as the manufacturer described. However this unit always requires 5 volt power supply from USB In order to convert HDMI to VGA.
